You should consider reaching out to Atlantic Coast Appliance if you notice any of the following problems with your washer or dryer.
There are several potential reasons why a washer or dryer may fail to start. One of the most common issues is that either machine has tripped a circuit breaker, which will prevent it from turning on. An electrical issue with the machine itself, faulty switches or timers, or a problem with a power cord could also prevent a washer or dryer from turning on. Blocked or kinked water supply houses could stop a washer from working correctly, while lint buildups in vents or filters can keep a dryer from turning on.
Both washers and dryers tend to be noisy by default, but unusual sounds could point to a serious underlying problem. Common causes of concerning noises from dryers include worn-out drum bearings, worn-out motor bearings, clogged lint filters, improperly installed belts, and unbalanced loads in the drum. Strange sounds from washers may be the result of worn-out or defective components (including bearings, shocks, springs, and belts), imbalanced loads, objects stuck between the inner and outer tubs, or insufficient lubrication.
Bacteria, mold, and mildew can grow inside the drum, hoses, or vents of a washer or dryer that is not regularly cleaned and maintained. Additionally, if the detergent used is too high in alkalinity, it can cause an accumulation of detergent residue which will cause a washer to emit odors over time. Using too much fabric softener in a dryer can lead to similar consequences. Loose buttons, coins, and other foreign objects can also eventually cause strange smells if they become lodged inside a washer or dryer.
A worn-out seal can allow water to escape from a washer during operation. Cracked hoses or improper connections between the hoses and the machine can also lead to leaks. Faulty or blocked valves or internal components within the washer can cause water to seep out of the machine.
A dryer may not generate adequate heat for one of several reasons. One common cause is if the machine has not been properly maintained via regular cleaning and descaling, as this can allow lint or other debris to build up in vents, filters, and ducts, which will ultimately restrict airflow. Additionally, if any parts within the dryer (including heating elements or fuses) have become worn out or defective, the dryer may become unable to produce sufficient heat during operation.
Our affordable fee of $119 covers an estimate of what the washer/dryer repair will entail. Remember, our service call is free with all repairs. In most cases, we can take care of the entire repair job during the same visit.
